These units require an input voltage between 4.8 - 6 volts and we recommend the use of 4.8V > 1200mA 4 cell pack, readily available from all good battery stockists.

A replacement Hall Effect Sensor compatible with all the above CDI systems. Ideal to replace a broken sensor or to leave a sensor installed on a second engine.


Installation

Installation will vary depending on the type of engine being converted to use CDI.

When converting an existing electric ignition petrol engine to use this CDI unit the required magnet should already be mounted on the engine. When converting a non electric ignition petrol engine, or a glow engine a magnet will need to be purchased and fitted.

Our experience

Our experience

Our engineer Geoff has converted an ASP 80 Four Stroke very quickly and simply by installing a 3mm magnet in the prop driver, an additional head shim and fitting our spark plug.

The engine was fairly new but had been run on glow fuel previously. We started with a very rich mixture of 15-1, using good quality synthetic 2 stroke oil and unleaded petrol, but we are going to drop to 25-1 for the next runs.

The engine is running really well - Geoff says 'like a dream', tick over is fantastic and is
using less than half the normal quantity of fuel! - More info and hopefully, magnets to purchase from us, to follow...
